CONTACT / ADAPT is a 6-week course focused on the vulnerability and expression of touch through movement-based, text-driven storytelling. Expanding on the foundational movement and contact improvisation practices found in earlier courses, CONTACT / ADAPT will apply these techniques to the creation and adaptation of work using canonical texts — ranging from plays to literary prose — into physically activated performances. Students will explore how movement can serve as a primary means of narrative and interpersonal communication, rather than a supplementary one. Designed for actors, directors, writers, dramaturgs, dancers, and choreographers, CONTACT / ADAPT is a class for anyone eager to reimagine how stories are told.
